When creating content online, whether you are an individual or a business, you need to have common sense. In this session, author and blogger C.C. Chapman talks about common sense and what some brands are doing wrong.

C.C. is a graduate of Bentley University and happily lives in the woods outside of Boston with his loving family.

“Anything an individual or organization creates and shares to tell their story.”

Common sense is…
“Everything our parents tried to teach us and anything that a basic human being should know.”

Key Thoughts from the Presentation:

  • Embrace that you are a publisher.
  • Retweets cannot be cashed in to pay your mortgage. You have to work really hard.
  • Speak human.
  • If you are a brand, you have to be listening. It’s the most important social media skill to have.
  • We all make messes. It’s how you respond and bounce back.
  • We’ve gotten lazy. You have to do the research.
  • You have to know your audience.
  • Do the work. Social media isn’t all glamorous.
  • “Nobody reads ads. People read what interest them. Sometimes it’s an ad.” – Howard Gossage

Three Final Things:

  1. You have to know where you’re going.
  2. Be respectful of each other.
  3. Have fun.
